The Wessex GP Educational Trust (WGPET) is a charity formed in 1990 to provide funding for educational events to assist it's members in completing their CPD cost effectively. It continues to fund a wide range of events provided by local GP educators and small groups throughout the area served by Health Education Wessex (See Local Education Providers). It does not receive any public money but is fully funded from the subscriptions paid solely by its GP members. As at January 2019 it had 1,170 members. Please note that the WGPET office will no longer supply a learning log of the courses attended. Appraisers feedback is CPD is an important part of maintaining our professionalism and for our appraisal it is important that we keep a continuous learning log of our activities. What is most important however, is that we reflect on any CPD activity we complete and consider how it might help us with patient care. We should ask ourselves, "What are the ideas and possible changes for my practice?” This is what we should record in our appraisal CPD diary and which can be discussed during our annual appraisal. It is no longer expected that you will give endless lists of talks attended or waste time scanning in certificates of attendance. The reflection on the learning is what appraisers want to see.
With this in mind, WGPET will no longer be providing certificates of attendance for general CPD activity. It is recommended that you keep a record of any mandatory training, such as safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, as proof of attendance may be required for employers. In this instance a certificate or confirmation of completion of the training will be provided.
